Licensed Massage Therapist Certification Program
The Harpers Ferry School of Massage is more than just a classroom. Our curriculum has been carefully crafted with three objectives in mind:
- Fullfill the requirements set by the WV Massage Therapy Licensure Board
- Prepare students to pass the licensing exam
- Build students' confidence and professional pride
The Details:
- 625 Hours of Instruction
- Eight months part time
- Class size limited to 12 students
- Meets standards for WV licensure, and we are working on VA and MD. Ask us about those and other states, we make progress often.
Our understanding of how massage therapy affects the mind-body system is expanding all the time. The HFSM curiculum explores the history of massage all over the world and the most up-to-date knowledge of the body’s tissues and systems. That intersection of traditional practice and emerging understanding is rich with delights for the curious mind.
At HFSM you will learn to use your hands to understand the structure, texture, and movement of the body’s tissues. You’ll become skilled at using what you see and hear before your client is on the table to formulate an effective massage plan, and get to experience how all different kinds of touch and communication can affect your clients’ body and mind.
Much of what makes a great professional massage therapist is a deep intuition about the body that can only be gained through practice. Once you have the foundation of knowledge, the HFSM curriculum and our skillful teachers will guide you through many hours of practice with your classmates and on practice clients.
As we find out more an more about how massage can have a positive impact on the lives of our clients, we’re gaining more and more respect and appreciation from all directions. At HFMS we believe strongly that it’s our responsibility to uphold the highest professional standards and give our students all the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that will elevate the profession even more by focusing on curiosity, honesty, and discretion.
